Windows 11 is the latest major release of Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system, released in October 2021.

In Windows, there are several shortcuts available that we use to make our work easy. ALT+TAB is one of the shortcuts of Windows to switch between all opened applications in the taskbar. The ALT key is held down then the TAB key is pressed, this shows all the opened applications on the screen. We can easily switch to our desired application. But sometimes in Windows11, ALT+TAB doesn’t work. So, in this article, I will show you how to fix ALT+TAB not working in Windows11.

Solution 1: Check for Windows update:

Sometimes, Windows11 is not updated to the latest version which causes the problem of ALT+TAB not working. To check updates on Windows11 follow the following steps:

Step 1: Go to Windows Setting.

Step 2: Click on Windows Update.

Step 3: Click on Check for Updates. If an update is available then update your Windows11.

This will solve the problem of ALT+TAB not working in Windows11. If not then follow Solution 2.

Solution 2: Change Multitasking Setting:

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Click on System Tab.

Step 3: In System settings, click on Multitasking.

Step 4: Set the Alt+Tab settings to Open Windows Only.

This will solve the problem of Alt+Tab not working in Windows11. If not, then follow Solution 3.

Solution 3: Restart Windows Explorer:

Step 1: Press the Windows button from the keyboard.

Step 2: Search for Task Manager and open it.

Step 3: Scroll down and search for Windows Explorer in Processes Section.

Step 4: Right-click on Windows Explorer and click on Restart.

This will restart Windows Explorer and the problem of Alt+Tab not working in Windows11 will be solved. If not, then follow Solution 4.

Solution 4: Change ALT-Tab features:

Step 1: Press the Window button from the keyboard.

Step 2: Search for “Registry Editor” and open it.

Step 3: In Registry Editor, Open the folder “Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \CurrentVersion \ Explorer”. i.e., Click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER then scroll down and click on software, then Microsoft, and so on until you find and click on explorer.

Step 4: On the right side, Right-Click anywhere in the blank area, click on New, and select the DWORD (32-bit) value.

Step 5: A file will be created, Rename that file to AltTabSettings.

Step 6: Double-Click on the AltTabSettings file and change the value data from 0 to 1.

Step 7: Restart your computer. This will solve the problem of Alt+Tab not working in Windows11. If not, then follow Solution 5.

Solution 5: Write CMD code to solve the problem

Step 1: Press the Window button from the keyboard.

Step 2: Search for CMD, Right-Click on Command Prompt, and Run as administrator.

Step 3: Write “Dism / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth” and press Enter.

Step 4: Write “sfc / scannow” and press Enter.

These processes will take some time.

Step 5: Restart your computer.
